Perspectiva feminista en la ciudad popular: iniciativas y desafíos de transformación barrial en El Agustino

Abstract

El presente artículo hace una revisión de las iniciativas impulsadas por las organizaciones de mujeres y de activismo feminista en los espacios públicos de la ciudad popular, específicamente en los barrios de El Agustino, uno de los distritos de la capital peruana. Para ilustrar este panorama, se parte del año 2016, con la primera y multitudinaria movilización Ni Una Menos - Perú, hasta el 2023, que incluye el periodo de pandemia de la Covid-19; mencionando antecedentes previos. Entendemos por ciudad popular a los espacios surgidos desde mediados del siglo XX por olas migratorias del campo a la ciudad, cuyo crecimiento se debe principalmente a la organización vecinal. Actualmente, pese a tener reconocimiento formal, estos espacios continúan precarizados y la violencia de género suele estar naturalizada. Ante ello, surge un crisol de colectivos y organizaciones territoriales que buscan transformar las dinámicas de convivencia y resimbolizar los barrios desde una perspectiva feminista. Este análisis toma en cuenta el estudio de Leslie Kern sobre la ciudad feminista, el deseo de cambiar las cosas que Verónica Gagó describe como la potencia feminista; vinculadas a las características del urbanismo feminista. El reto que reviste estas experiencias es hacer más habitable la ciudad popular para nosotras.

<strong>Feminist perspective in the popular city: initiatives and challenges of neighborhood transformation in El Agustino</strong><br>This article reviews the initiatives promoted by women's organizations and feminist activism in the public spaces of the popular city, specifically in the neighborhoods of El Agustino, one of the districts of the Peruvian capital. In order to illustrate this panorama, 2016 is taken as a starting point, the year of the first and massive mobilization Ni Una Menos - Peru, until 2023, which includes the period of the Covid-19 pandemic; mentioning previous history. We understand the popular city as the spaces that emerged since the mid-20th century by waves of migration from the countryside to the city, whose growth is mainly due to neighborhood organization. Currently, despite having formal recognition, these spaces remain precarious and gender violence is usually naturalized. Given this, a melting pot of collectives and territorial organizations emerges, which seek to transform the dynamics of coexistence and resymbolize neighborhoods from a feminist perspective. This analysis takes into account Leslie Kern's study of the feminist city, the desire to change things that Verónica Gagó describes as feminist power; linked to the characteristics of feminist urbanism. The challenge of these experiences is to make the popular city more livable for us.
