Morphologische Strukturanalyse des Codex Dresden

Abstract

Das geistes- und naturwissenschaftliche Konzept des Strukturalismus − insbesondere in der Mathematik, der Ethnologie (Claude Levi-Strauss) und in der Morphologischen Methode (Fritz Zwicky) − bildet den Ausgangspunkt für die strukturierte Darstellung ausgewählter Seiten der Maya-Handschrift Codex Dresden gemäß der fachspezifischen Methodik der Maya-Epigraphik.<br /> Statistische Untersuchungen von Teilen seines numerischen Korpus quantifizieren den astronomischen Inhalt dieser Teile der Handschrift.<br /> Eine Interpretation der Venus-Seiten des Codex Dresden erfolgt unter Einbeziehung von Mond-Venus-Konjunktionen.<br /> Verschiedene Betrachtungen der Zahlen- und Kalendersysteme der Maya ergänzen diese Ergebnisse.<br /> Statistische Betrachtungen der Agensrichtungen anthopomorpher und zoomorpher Figuren im piktoralen Korpus des Codex Dresden und der übrigen Handschriften der Maya (Codices Madrid, Paris and Grolier) verweisen ebenfalls auf eine Himmelsbeobachtung.<br /> Im Lichte aller Ergebnisse wird eine Interpretation des 260-tägigen Zyklus gegeben.

<strong>Morphological Structural Analysis of the Dresden Codex- Analytical and Synthetic Methods for an Enhanced Understanding of a Maya Manuscript written prior to their Contact with the Europeans</strong><br /> Structuralism, a central idea in the humanities as well as in natural science, − especially in mathematics, in ethnology (Claude Levi-Strauss) and as a constituting component of the <em>Morphological Method</em> of the astronomer Fritz Zwicky − establishes the basis for a structured representation of selected pages of the Maya manuscript Dresden Codex, by using hieroglyphical analysis, also known as Maya epigraphy.<br /> Statististical study of the numerical parts of these selected pages quantifies their astronomical meaning.<br /> An interpretation of the Venus-pages of the Dresden Codex is given, including the Moon-Venus-conjunctions.<br /> Different considerations concerning the numerical and calendrical systems complement these results.<br /> Statistical study of the directions of actions of the anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures in the pictorial corpus of the Dresden Codex and the other manuscripts of the Maya (Codices Madrid, Paris and Grolier) are also interpreted in reference to Maya sky watching.<br /> In the light of these results a new interpretation of the meaning of the 260-day cycle is given.
