Kontingenzerfahrungen und ihre Bewältigung zwischen imperium und regna Becher, Matthias; Hess, Hendrik Das Konzept der ‚Kontingenz‘ liefert neue Erkenntnisse zum Übergang zwischen Spätantike und Frühmittelalter abseits altbekannter Meistererzählungen und Forschungsnarrative. Naturkatastrophen, Hungersnöte, Zufälle sowie die plötzliche Veränderung von sozialen und politischen Strukturen, Tod, Gewalt oder ihre Androhung und die damit verbundene Einschränkung persönlicher Freiheit prägten die Erfahrungswelten der Menschen in Spätantike und Frühmittelalter. Das Erleben von Kontingenz stellte eine ebenso alltägliche wie universelle Grunderfahrung dar. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes untersuchen Kontingenzerfahrungen und Strategien zu ihrer Bewältigung vom 5. bis zum 8. Jahrhundert in Gallien und angrenzenden Gebieten im Spannungsfeld zwischen (römischem) imperium und (‚barbarischen‘) regna.; The concept of "contingency" provides new insights into the transition between the Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages besides well-known master and research narratives. Natural disasters, famines, coincidences as well as the sudden change of social political structures, death, violence or threat of violence and the associated limitation of the personal freedom marked the experiences of humans in the Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. The contingency experience can be characterised not only as an everyday day life experience but as a fundamental experience. The contributions in this volume analyse the contingency experiences and strategies in coping with them from the 5th century to the 8th century in Gaul and neighbouring areas in the dynamics between (Roman) imperium and ("Barbarian") regna.

Das Streben nach Erkenntnis und Fortschritt, die Anpassung der Organisationsstrukturen an sich wandelnde gesellschaftliche und technische Verhältnisse sowie die Erweiterung der Lehre auf innovative Forschungsfelder und neue Inhalte stehen hierbei ebenso im Mittelpunkt wie individuelle Leistungen in der Forschung. Dieser Band thematisiert die Entwicklung der Medizinischen Fakultät und der Universitätskliniken, der Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät sowie der Landwirtschaftlichen Fakultät. Darüber hinaus werden die Bonner Lehrerausbildung mit der früheren Pädagogischen Fakultät sowie die Rolle der Zentralen Wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen in den Blick genommen.; In the presentation of the faculties of the University of Bonn and its respective subjects and disciplines 200 years of scientific history come to life. The pursuit for knowledge and progress, the adjustment of the organisational structures to changing social and technical situations as well as the enlargement of teaching on innovative fields of research and new topics are being focused as well as individual achievements in research. This volume focuses on the development of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospitals, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture. Furthermore, the teacher training in Bonn with the former Faculty of Pedagogy as well as the role of the central scientific institutions are being analysed.

Jahrhundert wider: Von der Gründung 1818 nach dem Übergang des Rheinlands an Preußen über die Mitwirkung von Bonner Professoren in der Revolution 1848/49, der »Prinzenuniversität« im Kaiserreich, den schwierigen Bedingungen der Besatzungszeit nach 1918, der Ideologisierung und Repression während des Nationalsozialismus bis hin zur Hauptstadt-Universität der »Bonner Republik« und neuen Formen des Protests in Verbindung mit »68« und den Demonstrationen gegen die Nachrüstung im Hofgarten.; The history of the University of Bonn reflects the German history of the 19th and 20th century to a great extent: from the foundation in 1818 after the Rhineland became part of Prussia, to the involvement of its professors in the revolution of 1848/49, the “Princes’ University“ in the German empire, the difficult conditions during the occupation after 1918, the ideologisation and repression during National Socialism, up to the capital university of the “the Bonn Republic” and new forms of protest with the 1968 movement and the demonstrations against the NATO Double-Track Decision in the university’s park “Hofgarten”.
