A Preliminary Ruling Sequence of Cobá, Quintana Roo

Abstract

Within this note, I will make the attempt to establish a preliminary dynastic sequence for Cobá. Unfortunately, no key expressions for the demarcation of distinctive rulers can definitely be made out in the texts, such as birth, inauguration or death. The pioneering historic method first utilized by Tatiana Proskouriakoff (1960) fails in the corpus of Cobá due to the fragmentary state of well readable glyphic blocks. Even distance numbers can hardly be utilized to establish a source immanent calendric nexus.
