ZEI Future of Europe Observer, 2013, Vol. 1, No 1

Abstract

A new debate on the future of Europe has emerged which will define the path of the European Union in the years ahead. ZEI accompanies this process of discussion with the new “Future of Europe Observer“ which regularly provides an EU-wide platform for contributions from across the EU and beyond. <br> The first edition, compiled by ZEI Fellows of the Master "Class of 2013", summarizes the contributions from across the EU to overcome the state deficit crisis between 2010 and early 2013. The newly evolving European consensus will develop a new dimension of European interests with regard to economic, fiscal, and budgetary policies. It will shape the scope and legitimacy of the European Union.

Eine neue Debatte über die Zukunft Europas ist entbrannt, die den Weg der Europäischen Union in den kommenden Jahren bestimmen wird. Das ZEI begleitet diesen Diskussionsprozess mit dem neuen „Future of Europe Observer“, der regelmäßig eine EU-weite Plattform für Beiträge aus der EU und darüber hinaus bietet. <br> Die erste Ausgabe, zusammengestellt von ZEI Fellows des Masters „Class of 2013“, fasst die Beiträge aus der gesamten EU zur Überwindung der Staatsschuldenkrise zwischen 2010 und Anfang 2013 zusammen. Der sich neu herausbildende europäische Konsens wird eine neue Dimension europäischer Interessen mit entwickeln im Hinblick auf die Wirtschafts-, Steuer- und Haushaltspolitik. Sie wird den Geltungsbereich und die Legitimität der Europäischen Union prägen.
