Cultural and intellectual dynamism often stand in close relationship to the expression of viewpoints and positions that are in tension or even conflict with one another. This phenomenon has a particular relevance for Early Modern Europe, which was heavily marked by polemical discourse. The dimensions and manifestations of this Streitkultur are being explored by an International Network funded by the Leverhulme Trust (United Kingdom). The present volume contains the proceedings of the Network’s first colloquium, which focused on the forms of Renaissance conflict and rivalries, from the perspectives of history, language and literature. Kulturelle Dynamik und geistige Kreativität sind im Laufe der Geschichte immer auch von der Aushandlung von Interessenkonflikten im Streit mit geprägt worden. Die Frühe Neuzeit ist eine Epoche, in der Streitaustragung als kulturelle Praxis besonders stark in Erscheinung tritt. Ein vom Leverhulme Trust (Großbritannien) gefördertes Internationales Netzwerk zum Thema „Renaissance Conflict and Rivalries“ widmet sich zur Zeit den verschiedenen Ausprägungen und Auswirkungen der frühneuzeitlichen Streitkultur. Dieser Band enthält die Beiträge zur ersten Tagung des Netzwerkes, bei der die Formen dieser Streitkultur aus historischer sowie sprach- und literaturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive untersucht wurden. Aus rechtlichen Gründen fehlen dieser Version der Publikation einige Abbildungen. Diese sind ausschließlich in der gedruckten Variante des Werkes zu finden.
