Natural-maternalismo y filicidio: La construcción de la madre perfecta y la condena de Evangelina Tejera en Aquí no es Miami

Abstract

A través de la ideología natural-maternalista se perpetúan presiones sobre la mujer, por conducto del mito del ‘instinto maternal’, mismo que construye el imaginario de madre perfecta, pura y sacrificada. Por tanto, a través de esta postura, diversas aversiones im- piden la aceptación de la idea de la mala madre. De esta manera, cuando una mujer comete filicidio, la sociedad afín a la ideología natural-maternalista expresa que la locura o la demencia es la causante del crimen y no la madre misma. Por tanto, en este artículo se analiza el relato Reina, esclava o mujer de Fernanda Melchor, parte de su libro Aquí no es Miami (2019). En este texto, se desarrolla la historia de la reina de belleza Evangelina Tejera, la cual fue acusada de filicidio. Como consiguiente, en este trabajo se comparan las ideologías natural-maternalista y la mala madre para cuestionar los diversos paradigmas en torno a la condena de Evangelina Tejera, además de abordar el mito de terror que se configuró a través de los reportajes periodísticos y la leyenda popular.

<strong>Natural-maternalism and filicide: The construction of the perfect mother and the condemnation of Evangelina Tejera in Aquí no es Miami</strong><br>Through the natural-maternalistic ideology, pressures on women are perpetuated through the myth of the maternal instinct, which constructs the imagination of the perfect, pure, and sacrificed mother. Therefore, through this position, various aversions prevent the acceptance of the idea of the bad mother. Thus, when a woman commits filicide, society in tune with the natural-maternalistic ideology expresses that madness or insanity is the cause of the crime and not the mother herself. Therefore, this article analyses the story Reina, esclava o mujer by Fernanda Melchor, part of her book Aquí no es Miami (2013). In this text, the story of the former beauty queen Evangelina Tejera, who was accused of filicide, is developed. Consequently, this work compares the natural-maternalistic ideologies and the bad mother to question the various paradigms surrounding the conviction of Evangelina Tejera, in addition to addressing the myth of terror that was configured through journalistic reports and popular legend.
