Erkennung und Beschreibung des prosodischen Fokus

Abstract

In der vorliegenden Arbeit geht es darum, die wesentlichen Teile einer gesprochenen Äußerung zu erkennen. Die Arbeitshypothese geht davon aus, daß wesentliche Information auffälliger im Sprachstrom kodiert ist als unwesentliche. Diese wesentliche und zugleich akustisch auffällige Information wird hier als prosodischer Fokus definiert.<br /> Ziel war zum einen, den prosodischen Fokus auf mehreren Ebenen zu beschreiben. Zunächst wurden die verschiedenen linguistischen Konzepte untersucht. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bildete die Darstellung der phonetischen Untersuchungen, die sich mit den akustischen Korrelaten dieser Konzepte bereits auseinandergesetzt haben.<br /> Ein zweites wesentliches Ziel bestand darin, den prosodischen Fokus auf akustischer Ebene zu erkennen. Es wurde davon ausgegangen, daß akustische Parameter darüber Aufschluß geben, welche Teile einer Äußerung auch perzeptiv stärker hervortreten. Aufgrund der vorliegenden Erkenntnisse wurde ein automatisches Verfahren zur Fokuserkennung entwickelt und implementiert. Das Verfahren arbeitet regelbasiert und verwendet den Verlauf der Sprachgrundfrequenz als wesentliche Information.<br /> Drittes Ziel war die Anwendung der Fokuserkennung in einem System zur Erkennung, Übersetzung und Synthese von spontansprachlichen Dialogen. Es bestand die Annahme, daß die akustischen Fokusmarkierungen eine Abbildung der linguistischen Konzepte darstellen und somit für die Verarbeitung in den linguistischen Erkennungsmodulen nützlich sind. Verschiedene Experimente untersuchten die Fokusinformation im Hinblick auf ihre Verwertbarkeit als zusätzliche Hilfe für die linguistischen Erkennungsmodule 'Semantik' und 'Transfer'.

<b>Recognition and description of prosodic focus</b><br /> The theme of this thesis is to recognize the most important sections of spoken utterances. As a working hypothesis, it is assumed that important information is acoustically marked in speech while insignificant information is not. This important and at the same time acoustically prominent information is defined here as prosodic focus. <br /> One aim was to describe prosodic focus on several levels. First, the different linguistic concepts concerning focus were examined. A further emphasis lay on the description of several phonetic investigations, which already dealt with the acoustic correlates of these concepts.<br /> A second essential aim consisted of detecting prosodic focus on the acoustic level. It is assumed that acoustic parameters carry the information, whatever sections of an utterance are perceptually more prominent. Due to the available results in this field, an automatic procedure for the focus recognition was developed and implemented. The procedure operates with a rule-based approach and it uses the fundamental frequency as main information source.<br /> Third aim was to apply the focus recognition in a system that performs recognition, translation and synthesis of spontaneously spoken dialogs. There was the assumption that the acoustic focus information represents a mapping of the linguistic concepts and thus, it can be useful for the processing in the linguistic recognition modules. By different experiments the focus information was tested as an additional assistance for the linguistic recognition modules 'semantics' and 'transfer'.
