dc.description.abstractThe demand for digital applications follows the unhindered growth of the digitization of tasks across many fields, including the entertainment industry, education and science but also work environments. Common tasks thereby involve the generation of photorealistic renderings for movie scenes, illustrations of objects that are not directly accessible or placing virtual objects in real > the specific field, visualization applications are often based on computer-generated imagery (CGI). A key component of CGI are digital doubles, the digital recreation and combination of real-world objects, enc> In this thesis, we will present three approaches to widen the gamut and enhance the quality of digital doubles. We improve shape acquisition techniques for low-cost of-the-shelf hardware solutions and introduce a new digital material that unlocks the recreation of worn surfaces with microscopic scratches.en
